The Japan Foundation for UNU (JFUNU) Scholarship is available for outstanding applicants from developing countries who can demonstrate a need for financial assistance and who are granted admissions to UNU-ISP.

The JFUNU scholarship covers the full tuition fees, and provides a monthly allowance of 150,000 JPY* for living expenses for a maximum of 24 months. Travel costs to and from Japan, visa handling fees, and health/accident insurance costs must be covered by the student.

Eligibility:

Applicants for the Master of Science in Sustainability, Development, and Peace are required to have met the following requirements by the application deadline in order to be considered:

• a completed bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from a recognized university or institution of higher education

• A particular interest and career aspiration in at least one of the following thematic areas: Global Change and Sustainability, Peace and Security, International Cooperation and Development

Eligibility

To be eligible for a Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarship, candidates should:

be Commonwealth citizens of a developing Commonwealth country, refugees or British protected persons

be permanently resident in a developing Commonwealth country

normally hold a first degree of upper second-class standard, or higher qualification. In certain cases, we will consider a lower qualification and sufficient relevant experience

The CSC may require candidates to undertake the academic IELTS English language test as a condition of eligibility. Candidates should check with the UK institution/provider whether this requirement applies to them. It is the candidate’s responsibility to note that an IELTS test will only be considered valid if taken after 1 September 2012 for those candidates wishing to start their studies from September 2013 onwards. Candidates will be asked to provide evidence that they have achieved a minimum overall score of 6.5 on the IELTS scale.

The CSC expects all candidates being considered for a Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarship to have completed an application form using our Electronic Application System (EAS). The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) is a parastatal of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources established by Decree 25 of 1973 for the purpose of developing and promoting petroleum technology and for creating the manpower needs of the oil and gas industry through research and training of Nigerians.

Our mission therefore is to train Nigerians to qualify as graduates, professionals, technicians and craftsmen in the field of engineering, geology, science and management in the oil and gas industry in Nigeria or abroad. We have a vision to serve not only as a vessel for the development of indigenous manpower and technology transfer/acquisition in the petroleum industry but also to make Nigeria a human resource centre for the West African sub-region.

PTDF Undergratduate / Postgraduate( MSc and PhD ) Scholarship Programme 2013 / 2014

To ensure a steadfast implementation of this mandate, PTDF is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for Overseas MSc and PhD Scholarships. Scholarships will be awarded for studies in the 2013/2014 academic session in the United Kingdom and France (Grenoble INP) and upgraded Universities in Nigeria for the 2013/2014 session. However, the Undergraduate level will be awarded for studies in Nigeria only on subject areas listed below. Copied from

PTDF however wishes to inform applicants that the Overseas Scholarship Scheme was instituted as a short term measure to address identified skills gaps, pending the outcome of the various capacity building efforts being made to enable our domestic universities effectively handle the onerous task of grooming qualitative professionals in the oil and gas related disciplines. With the numerous upgrade programmes executed by the Fund in some Federal Universities in Nigeria, emphasis has shifted to training Nigerians in-country. Consequently, only a limited number of candidates will be sponsored overseas and the rest in Nigerian Universities listed below.

iii. GMAT –for Management related courses

iv. International English Language Testing System (IELTS)

3.) PhD

Applicants must be in the academics in Nigerian Institutions, teaching an oil and gas related discipline;

Applicants must possess minimum of 2.2 in their first degree and a good second degree certificate;

Applicants must submit a research proposal relevant to the oil and gas industry (of not more than 5 pages) to include: Topic, introduction, objective, methodology and mode of data collection; Applicants must include a valid admission letter;

Applicants must not be over 40 years of age; and; Applicants must include their masters degree project

BBA Season 8 Auditions Holds in Lagos this Week

Big Brother Africa Season 8:Organisers of the annual Big Brother Africa reality TV show have announced that auditions for shortlisted candidates in Nigeria will take place at Protea Hotel Leadway, Lagos from Monday, March 11 through Thursday 14. For applicants who were unable to enter online or submit the entry at the nearest MultiChoice office, the good news is that there is still an opportunity for them to enter through the open auditions on the same dates, venue and time. Managing Director of M-net, Biola Alabi says, the open auditions allow individuals who were unable to enter before entries closed one last chance to impress the selection team. "All you are required to do is fill in the entry form which is currently available at your nearest MultiChoice office, then make your way to the audition venue where a production team member will assist you," Alabi added. Entries are only open to persons over the age of 21, who are citizens of one of the participating countries and who either have a valid passport or will be able to obtain one by the end of March. Producers are looking for persons who are fluent in English, entertaining, open-minded, adventurous, bold and passionate about the Big Brother experience. Chevron Nigeria Limited, in collaboration with its Joint Venture partner, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), is offering a number of University Scholarship Awards to suitably qualified Nigerian students.

E-applications are invited from full-time SECOND YEAR (200 LEVEL) degree students of the under-listed courses, in Nigerian Universities:

Closing date for receipt of e-applications is strictly March 29, 2013.

In line with their e-scholarship administration system, selected students will be invited for computer-administered qualifying tests in selected examination centers nationwide.

Short-listed candidates for the qualifying test will be invited by email and SMS text messages. All applicants are therefore advised to ensure that GSM telephone numbers and personal email addresses are properly entered into the e-forms on the web site.
